National Vocational Qualifications show that the people holding these certificates are competent at their jobs. They are based on nationally recognised occupational standards which clearly describe what is expected of people working in various occupations. They provide criteria to assess whether someone is performing competently and they specify the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills which are essential for competent performance.
What would I need to do?
Environmental Management NVQ Level 4
This NVQ aims to improve organisational performance by raising the competences of managers in both large and small organisations in all sectors.
In order to obtain the NVQ you must provide evidence to prove that you consistently perform your job to the NVQ standard. You must also show that you have the knowledge, skills and understanding to be able to perform in a range of contexts. There are no exams, you simply have to provide evidence to demonstrate to your assessor that you consistently meet the performance criteria. You will be assessed at your workplace, at a time convenient to you - so no constraints of having to attend an external venue!
How long does it take?
There is no set timetable but most managers will take around 9 months to a year to complete this qualification. It is candidate driven but you would normally decide with the assessor an assessment plan, to keep you focused and provide you with appropriate milestones
